This Women’s Day : Draft your own fairytale!

This Women’s Day pledge to be uniquely You. Do not let definitions of old world fairytales or new school ‘progressive’ thought confuse you .

Neither you require a prince in shining armour to live your dreams nor you need to shun your soulmate to be a feminist.

Neither you have to succumb to society and it’s benchmarks nor drag yourself to someone else’s pedestal to acknowledge your worth.

Neither you are compelled to bury your dreams and sacrifice your aspirations, nor you have to tread on an ambitious journey leaving your loved ones behind.

Neither you are obliged to procreate to prove your womanhood nor you are required to miss your baby’s childhood to prove your ambitions .

Neither you are incomplete without the opposite sex nor you need to shame them to establish your independence.

Neither you have to pursue a career nor give away one .

Neither you should get settled to make a family nor you are required to uproot yourself to succeed in life.

Neither cooking defines you and nor does driving .

Neither you have to dress nor undress to assert a point.

Neither you need to hate your colour, body or other physical attributes nor you have to hate others seeking change.

You are the writer to your story, the director of your script . You decide what limits you and what doesn’t .No one can have it all , so neither can you. But it was never about All or None.

Strike your own balance , knit your own network, carve your own niche, form your own circle , shortlist your own priorities and draft your own fairy tale. Write, cut then rewrite . Because you are a work in progress .

You don’t have to let a word define you , you are not restricted to a tag to be labelled as a daughter, mother , sister, or even a woman . You are a soul with limitless possibilities and let no one tell you otherwise.

This women’s day don’t let any work of fiction / celebrity/ media icon/man or woman decide your fairytale.

Draft your own !

Happy International Women’s Day, Ladies !

I am woman, hear me roar

In numbers too big to ignore

And I know too much to go back an’ pretend

‘Cause I’ve heard it all before

And I’ve been down there on the floor

No one’s ever gonna keep me down again

Oh yes, I am wise

But it’s wisdom born of pain

Yes, I’ve paid the price

But look how much I gained

If I have to, I can do anything

I am strong

I am invincible

I am woman

-Lyrics by Helen Reddy, I am Woman .
