Aate Ka Halwa |Wheat Halwa | Kada Prasad |Indian Dessert

No visit to the Gurudwara is complete without a warm handful of delicious , velvety, ghee-laden kada prasad / halwa made from aata or wholewheat flour.

Here is a foolproof recipe to make the flavorful halwa , using the right proportions of three main ingredients which result in this tasty delight.

Prep Time : 5 minutes

Cook Time : 25 minutes

Yield : 4 servings

Ingredients:

Half cup (1/2) sugar

Half cup (1/2) whole wheat flour / aata

Half cup (1/2) ghee /Indian clarified butter

1 cup water

Method:

Take 1 cup water in a saucepan and add 1/2 cup sugar , bring it to a boil and simmer until they form a clear solution . Switch off the gas and keep it aside .

Take ghee in kadhai , add aata(wholewheat flour) and cook on medium high heat till it attains light brown colour and turns aromatic.Keep stirring while cooking.

Pour the sugar solution 1 spoon at a time to the aata while continuously stirring . Beware of splashes of water while doing this.

Keep stirring (very important at this stage) and adding sugar solution . Keep on low to medium heat while doing this . Cook this mix till you get halwa like thick consistency and the whole preparation comes together as one unit.

Serve warm.
